Who is YGGDRASIL N158 in TERRA-BROWN for?
For anyone who puts on the same boot five days running and wants the leather to go along with it rather than fight it. TERRA-BROWN asks for dark denim, corduroy, heavy wool; it works better with charcoal grey than with black. It sits happily alongside the other browns in your wardrobe, even when they don't match exactly. Sizes 36 to 42.
Design and stride
Comfort last, wide across the toes, without the squeeze of a classic Chelsea. The heel measures 45 mm and the drop is 25 mm: you walk with the foot tipped slightly forward, high enough off cold pavement and standing water. The lugged sole bites well on wet cobbles and on soft ground. The shaft is low and the side elastic lets you pull the boot on and off in one movement, with no laces to fasten in gloves.
Materials and construction
The sole combines rubber and recycled rubber, with deep lugs and rounded edges; wear shows first on the outer edge of the heel, as it does on any sole of this profile. It is built with 360º stitched-integral construction: the stitching runs right around the perimeter and joins sole and upper visibly, which is what lets the boot last several seasons in a row. The lining is microfibre, not wool, so the warmth comes from the thickness of the Arizona leather and from whatever sock you add: fine in dry cold, worth a heavier sock in long spells of damp cold. The insole is microfibre too, breathable and easy to air out at the end of the day. The upper, as said, is greased Arizona leather, which takes on water slowly and recovers with a brush and a coat of neutral grease.
Size guide
The comfort last runs wide, and your usual size is generally the right one, even with a high instep. Arizona leather gives a little across the width over the first weeks, but the side elastic does not stretch much further: if you plan to wear thick wool socks all winter, try the boot with them on. The heel tab helps you get the foot in while the shaft is still new and stiff.
