Who is YGGDRASIL N158 in BLACK for?
For anyone who wears dark footwear as a rule, through work or habit, and would rather not pay for it with cramped toes. The last is a comfort last, wide at the front, with more room than a standard street Chelsea allows. It works well on a broad foot: the foot goes in without the elastic having to do all the work. Sizes 36 to 42.
Construction and step
The heel measures 45 mm and the difference to the toe is 25 mm, so the heel sits clearly above the toes and the weight moves onto the metatarsals sooner. The stride comes out shorter and firmer than you would expect from a boot that looks like this. The lugs are deep and the tread open, with solid grip on wet steps and on the polished concrete of a hallway or a car park. With the miles, the rubber wears smooth first along the outer edge of the heel; that is where you will see it before anywhere else.
Materials and construction
The sole combines rubber with recycled rubber and rises around the perimeter in a broad band that protects the edge of the leather. The construction is 360º Stitched-integral: the upper is stitched to the sole all the way round, seam visible, which holds the whole thing together in the area that works hardest as the boot flexes. Above that, the Arizona leather is of medium thickness and comes oiled from the tannery, so it takes on water slowly, though it is not a membrane. Microfibre lining throughout the shaft and a removable microfibre insole. Made in sizes 36-42.
Size guide
True to size in length; the round toe leaves air in front without letting the foot slide. The Arizona leather softens across the instep with wear, but the width of the last does not change: if you need more volume, go up a size rather than forcing the leather. The shaft pulls on over the elastic, with no laces or zip, so the fit you get on day one is the fit you keep.
